My apologies for introducing yet another tyre thread, but I really need some advice. After researching the subject thoroughly and heeding the advice of trusted fellow dogs I was sold on getting a set of D606's (21" front, 17" rear) for the KLR in order to tackle more sandy and smaller tracks. However, after more than two months of looking for these tyres it seems there are no 17" rears to be had in the whole of the RSA.
I would still like to go with the D606 at the front but am uncertain as to which rear to use with the D606. I like the Trailwing 41/42 but the traction in especially sand and mud is a bit suspect. What would you suggest as a companion to the D606 front and failing that, which set of tyres will give me similar performance on the KLR?
Being a budget conscious cheapskate the cost of the D606's was an added attraction. Don't think I would like to "waste" a TKC on the KLR.
