I replaced all my throttle cables from top to bottom, including the choke - what a difference it makes. What a pleasure to twist that grip again, it feels so snappy and soft - not like it used to be.
It is not cheap when buying it from BWM, but well worth it after 140,000km. This includes the cable junction box under the ABS pump unit. I see BMW also changed how the angle / way how the cable enters at the throttle itself.
Takes some effort and time, but it was simple enough to do.
