Safely remove Paint from sidecovers to get back to original?

Hi,

I need to get the paint off these side covers. I suspect the previous owner just painted over the original panels.

Is there a way to safely remove the paint without damaging the original finish? I have sat with thinners for about 10min on a small spot and the paint is too thick
