With my bike restoration project well underway, I'm really enjoying the restoration part of things and don't think this will be the first and last of its kind.
Bearing this in mind, I'm considering a small blasting cabinet to restore the small aluminium parts like gear/break pedals etc. etc. Unfortunately I know very little about this but are keen to learn.
This is what I'm considering:
Picture 1 - small blasting cabinet: Ideal cost effective abrasive solution. Recycles existing materials to reduce abrasive waste. Small enough to fit most tabletops. Easy to clean & maintain. Fitted with a fluorescent light inside.
Working region: 57 X 42 cm
Overall Dimension: 58 X 49.5 X 56.5 cm
Carton size (with 1pc machine inside): 60 X 51.5 X 58.5 cm
G.W./N.W.: 25/22 kg
Effective working area: 4800 cm2
AC/DC Transformer: 220 V / 50 Hz, output 12 V / 7000 mA (Light)
Work Pressure Range: 4-6 kg.f/cm2
Applicable abrasive: silica sand, silica carbide, glass powder, corundum, etc
Picture 2 - small air compressor: MAC-AFRIC™ 24 Liter Direct Drive Compressor 1.5kW 2HP
A small receiver tank size makes this direct drive compressor extremely portable and ideal for the DIY user.
Tank Size: 24 Liter
Motor/Pump Type: Direct Drive
Motor Size: 2HP, 1.5kW
Clean Air Delivery Rate: 3.88CFM (110 Liter/min)
Input Power : 220V Single-Phase
Maximum Pressure: 116 PSI, 8 Bar
Ideal for DIY work and powering pneumatic nail or staple guns.
Pic 3 - Grit - is this suitable for my requirements? Size of Grit:
47 - 58 Microns
Uses of the Sand
Your advice would be much appreciated.
