So, I wanted a smaller fixed blade for my bug-out bag. I knew exactly what I wanted, but did not see it for sale. I wanted something super tough that would fit my hand with only 10cm of blade but with about 5mm of spine. Did the heat treat today and tested the blads before finishing it. Managed to moer it through copper pipe, aluminium rod and a steel screw without damage. Will finish it later. 5160 steel.

Done. Didn’t really focus on finish, if all goes well this will stay oiled in a sheath in the bug-out bag and never be used. Blade picked up some nice hues in the etch

Thanks. Although when I trolled Takealot for Rough Ryder folders last night I saw a RR fixed blade for R500 odd that would have worked just as well

Wanted a vintage and worn-out look canvas pocket slip with a clip for my Culpepper. Salvaged the canvas from a rotten binoculars case. The clip was not made from scratch this time, it was from a military style water bottle bag which I just modified and heat treated again. I did not have waxed cotton thread in brown, so I took regular embroidery yarn and waxed it with Cobra floor wax. Worked OK, did not break or knot once. The slip is flat on the clip side and rounded at the off side
