Hi Dogs,
So the time has come for me to part with my XR project. The bike is about 95% complete, however it is running and its paper work is in order.
I rebuilt this bike to be a lekker everyday enduro bike but I will never use it for that. The bike and I have a long story so please give me a call and I’ll tell you all about it. (I don’t like typing that much, and it’s easier to talk about it than write about it)
The bike is a 1997 Honda XR600R. It has roughly 21000km on it but at 12000km Off road cycles did a bunch of work on the engine for me. I lost the original speedo so the kilos are a guestimation. It has a trailtechvapor Endurance II on now. The bike has an FCR carb and a crf450 front end. The forks were rebuilt and re anodized. It also has a 4 gallon IMS tank on and a 200Watt ricky stator. The stator is currently configured with AC regulator that runs the lights and a dc regulator for everything else. Runner helped me over the last year to get the bike police certified, road worthy and back on the road. It has a new license disc but needs a new number plate. Off road cycles has all the invoices on their system of the work that has been done to this bike.
The previous owner of this bike stripped the gear shift spline and then proceeded to really screw it up. He grinded the spline at an angle and welded the gear shifter to it. It broke almost immediately after I got the bike. So I fixed it by using a piece of steel with a hole in and the filled the gaps with tools steel that a filed down to fit exactly. I then had it weld and it hasn’t given me any trouble since. I know this a glaring issue but the deal is redeemable. I have all the original parts for the bike, except for the tank and front mudguard (and the speedo). I have an extra set of plastics for the bike and some extra controls. I have an extra crf complete front wheel and I have the original XR front wheel also complete. I also have a 18” rear outer that came off a 650R, still in good shape.
All these part are include in the price. The bike pulls like a freight-train and Runner’s guys tell me that they did a compression test and everything checks out. Also had the cam chain and tensioner replaced last year.
The bike is currently standing at Off road cycles and can be view there. I live around the corner so let me know and I’ll meet you there and talk your ear off about the bike. I spent A LOT of money and A LOT of time on this bike and it is sad to let her go but I won’t use her again for what she was built.
My price isR35000 R24000 not neg.
Give a ring on zero 8 two 5one5 five 8 double 1 if you’re interested.
