First bike I ever bought and finally need to let her go.
So here's the basics: 2009 model (with ABS and heated grips) with almost 37 000km on the clock. I am the second owner and bought the bike in Feb 2013 with 16 000km on. Since then I've fitted a lot of extras, and it has the following on:
Tall Kappa screen
BMW handguards
Headlight protector
Wild@heart crashbars (best there is in my view coz it’s lekker tall)
BMW low seat (want ek is 'n kortgat :xxbah
Luggage racks (not sure which make)
Luggage plate (not sure which make)
Wilbers progressive fork springs
Leo Vince exhaust pipe
1200's Brake fluid reservoir coz the original shakes like crazy
BMW bashplate
Wide footpegs
A quick calculation in my head gives +/- R25k worth of extras, probably more.
I just got the battery replaced as well as a new fuel pump (hulle kak maar standard op 30 000km). Tyres: Michelin T63 in front with a lot of life left. Currently on the rear is a TKC80, but I have a Mitas E-07 which I will fit for the buyer which should still be good for at least 5000km. Full service history from BMW.
What’s wrong with it: As you can see in the photos, a few dings on the crashbars and wear marks from my boots on the engine cover. Also she sweats a bit of oil (like they should according to mechanic at BMW). 2 small dents on the front rim from before I fitted the Wilber fork springs, and 1 one the rear as well.
Together we had proper adventures and I took this bike to terrain most 800 owners would probably not dare go. Fell over too many times to count, but never had a crash. So no, she is not in mint condition and I cannot advertise it as such. But if you’re looking for a bike that is ready to hop on and tour, this is the one.
I’ve bought a couple of bikes 2nd hand now, and I always ask guys why they want to sell. So why do I want to sell? Well one day I will probably own a 800 again, but for my needs now I want something lighter to do weekend trips with in the boendoes. Marriage coming up and kids etc etc won’t allow for long trips, where the advantages of the 800 really come into play.
I am in Kakamas in the Northern Cape. Courier will be for buyer’s account. Or if you’re in the Cape I could ride it down there.
