A while ago, on a canal ride, I saw a nice looking DIY aluminium box mounted to someone's GS, and thought it would be a nice project when I have a day or two spare. I needed somewhere to store my puncture repair kit, tools and compressor. Well yesterday turned out to be such a day, and I had some alu checker plate left from a canopy I previously built. And so I started.
Photo1 - After much measurement, cut 2 such plates for the sides of the box.
Photo2 - Measure out and cut some angle alu for the frame.
Photo3 - Use a DIY bending brake I made for a previous project to bend the box's sides.
Photo4 - The box's side all nicely bent.
Photo5 - Checking if everything fits okay, still needing the bottom edge to be cut.
Photo6 - Some Sikaflex before assembly to hold it all together and seal it.
Photo7 - Another bead of Sikaflex for the side panel.
Photo8 - Fit the door and lock, and use some weather strip foam rubber to provide a seal for the door.
Photo9 - The mounting brackets in place, it's time to fit it to the bike.
