I need to replace mine (2008 990 Adventure S) at only 29 000 km. Trax in Pta is doing it but I see it can be done quite cheaply at home. My 11 thumbs will not work here....
My question: what can be done/not done to prevent the bearings being replaced at regular intervals? I don't use a high pressure sprayer and stopped using degreaser agents like Prepsol and such like. I bought the bike not long ago and only realized much later the bike comes from the coast meaning small parts are rusted but can only be seen when the panels are taken off. Could this be the reason for the replacement or is it general that the bearings are replaced at +- 30 000 km?
Thanks
