Bike
BMW F650GS / Dakar
OK, so i got my Dakar last week monday.
and since I've never actually riden a bike that big, in fact, never even been on a Dakar until I took possession of it. (no test rides, nothing)

I was kinda nervous riding it out of Atlantic Motorrad's showroom, but within seconds i was hooked.
I didn't get to ride much during the week. The furthest I got was camps bay.
But I figured I had the whole weekend to ride everywhere.
On sat I was gonna hit the winelands and on Sunday do the toy run.

Sat morning dawns, and I had to run a few errands, before hitting the road.
En route to a friends place, on a really narrow road, some woman almost ploughed into me, I hit brakes and down I went.
Man, was i pissed off. I only broke an indicator cap, so not the end of the world.
I went passed Atlantic for a new one, but the workshop was already closed.

I had to stop off at one other place before my first long ride.
I was with my friends for maybe 40 min. I left thier apartment, went to my bike, and tried to start it.
No go.
I couldn't get the key into the ignition.
On a closer look the whole ignition was fucked. Looks like some twat stuck a screwdriver in there and twisted.
So a few phonecalls, and an hour and half later BMW oncall tows my bike away.

And thats my sad story... no long ride, no Toy Run, no nothing. Dont know when I'll be getting it back.

The law of averages indicates that from now on things can only get better !!  ;)

Ag no! That truly sucks!

Don't worry: it can only go better from here onwards. At least you've had your first fall with her, so now that's out of the way.

PS If you're not too worried about looks, epoxy glue is fantastic stuff for your plastics :D. One of my indicators is on it's 3rd life already...  ;)

That sucks some serious bad-assed putrid and repugnant rotten eggs.

The fall is bad enough, but shit happens. But why the hell can't people just leave someone's stuff the hell alone ?

yeah.

Its crazy.
i was in a nice neighbourhood (Gardens) in flat overlooking the bike.
I must have glanced out the window half a dozen times - and saw nothing.

Man, I really could kill somebody!

dude, that sucks so bad. tell you what, when you get it back, give me a call and i'll do all i can to join you for a nice ride to the winelands, if i'm available!!

also - apparently at aprillia you can get a full set of indicators for R250, exact match to the dakar's :D

NOOIT! Agreed, things can only get better from now on. Let us know what the new ignition cost.

Gardens is not a good area.

A freind had his TDM taken and two weeks later his brand new 650GS was thrown in the back of a bakkie and never seen again.

His insurance company wasn't happy.

He just saw the bakkie driving off but by the time he was in the car he lost them. Lucky for them though as he is up a few dans in the Karate world and has been known to carry weapons from time to time.

Eish dude.

Hope you get your boney back soon. Luckily BMW Dealerships are pretty jacked up. Good luck bro. See you on dirt soon!

Same sh#t happened to me. Does the d##s really think he will be able to start my bike with a screwdriver? to much  tv for him.

My bike was in the shop 4 days.

Got it back last week.
spent most of the weekend cruising around the peninsula getting a feel for her.
Can't wait to hit the dirt!
;D
