Are sorely mistaken, the X-Country/X- Challenge has got to be the kakkest job in creation!!!! To replace the water pump on either of these bikes, you must remove the rear wheel, swingarm, detach the rear subframe and lift it out the way, the left footpeg bracket, then all the bolts that hold the small part of the main frame that goes around the back of the motor, THEN can you only get to two bolts on the clutch cover........whoever designed this setup is a fucking asshole!!!!! Anyone that has to do this job out in the sticks in Africa better take at least two days off, and hope he has all the tools. Then to top it all, one of the two water pump seals was installed wrong way round.....EX FACTORY.....Loncin make these engines.....
What started out as a quick job took me a whole fucking afternoon......I'll rather do THREE Dakar/GS water pumps before I do ONE more of these.....braindead engineering and design......
And any X owner that has this job done by BMW, don't complain about labour costs......it is a moerse job....
