"Jinne boet.... do you's ever ride that thing?"
I get asked that a lot...... At every ride I join, every awesome picture I upload onto Facebook, even at the local Spar I get asked that question. I do, but let me let you all in on a secret...
Soap and water.
Yip, that is all one needs and if you want to know more stick around and I will show you.
So here we have a dirty bike. See the dirtiness? Well that came from following Uncle Andy around on a Sunday morning.
So, to get the bike dirty free we take a hosepipe and rinse it like so....
After the bike is rinsed we can already see a vast improvement but we are not done yet. Nope, we then spray it down with some prepsol and clean green.
When that is done I usually open a beer but since this was a Monday morning I stuck to wine.
So after my wine we proceed. First, get bucket and mix some more clean green with ordinary car shampoo. Any will do.
The end result would look like this...
Apply to motorcycle, it should look something like this.
Then rinse.
And dry. I usually take a spin around the neighbourhood to frighten the neighbours dogs a bit.
End result...
Apply some chainlube and you are done.
Keep in mind this is what I consider a quick wash. When my OCD really kicks in I have a lot more steps involved in the cleaning but also includes airfilter cleaning and checking oil levels but I didn't have time for that today.
So, there you have it. Now you know how the cool kids keep their bikes clean. I just do the same.
