Chang Jiang (all models)
Was itching to ride again and got 6 other guys keen as well. 1x KLR , 3x Tigers, 3 x KTM's
Met at the Engen Polo Pony and set off at 8am.
Hit the first dirt section with no issues except for a lady in a Nissan XTrail who stopped us to say we were on a private rd. Just so happens we were at a signpost marking the D road which was pointed out and we proceeded. I was leading and we got to pretty tricky sections. Big change from the last time I rode it. Was not concentrating but fixed on my mirror looking at the rider behind me. Next moment hit a deep sand section and start fishtailing. Kippie does not open up and the Katoom lays over on her side with my right leg trapped underneath. Russel finds a hard spot to park his bike and helps me out and up. Geez that thing is heavy. Ankle is knocked up and pulled a chest muscle(fat) picking the bike up. We proceed and everyone gets through safely. We get about 6k's further on and enjoying the ride and next thing see a SAPS member on a KTM who asks where we are going. Inform him to Cato Ridge and he wishes us a good ride and carry on. Coming down a steep rutted track and see a tractor with a blade behind trying to smooth out the track. Keep well to the left and wave at the driver and onwards we go. About 2ks further on we see no headlights in our mirrors and slow down. Bruce catches up and shouts that the guy on the KLR (Roger) introduced himself to the tractor. Hit a u turn and get back to the scene. Roger is up and about and the others have helped him pull the bike out from under the tractor .

Front mudguard is trashed and radiator cover torn loose. Handlebars bent down and cables jammed. Tractor driver is pretty shook up as Roger is bleeding by the eye.hurt his ring finger and given his gonads a good whack on the tank
Bike wont start so freewheels down about 3km of dirt back onto tar. Straighten every thing and still wont start. Young Larry takes a look behind the dashboard fairing and sees a junction plug that has come apart. Connects it and starter comes to life.

Carried on to our spot in the bush for our boerie braai and then headed for home

Lekker to be out again. Got home collected the KLR i have just bought and made nice and went for a ride on that as well.

Sounds like a fun trip so far

Hope Roger is ok

Geesh, if this is how your basic boerie braai goes, I'm waiting to hear about the time you decided to braai a whole sheep!

Hopefully everyone survived?

Do post on, the suspense is hectic!

We riding again Saturday & Sunday.
I'm on leave from Monday and have a solo ride planned up to Midlands to do some stealth camping. Then following week 3 of us to Dargle Forest and spend the night there, next morning to Lower Lotheni, Himeville, Sani Pass and back down then through to Swartberg to spend the night. Next morning another pass(name eludes me) and then as much dirt as possible from Bulwer, Byrne Valley, Ixopo, Hella Hella, Richmond, Hammarsdale and home.

To be fair, you should place a half page ad in the newspaper, just to give the unsuspecting folks in these towns the opportunity to prepare or evacuate.  >:D  BTW, near Richmond is a place with a bunch of old tractors, IIRC. ([member=2427]GundaGunda[/member] will know exactly where.) Those old tractors are hard-ass and won't take kindly to full frontal assault from KLRs. Just saying...

[member=3299]roxenz[/member] ,

Fortunately for my riding buddies, and the tractors, I am otherwise occupied this weekend..

I think you are referring to the Vintage Tractors, at Baynesfield? Ya, those things are hard, will maybe break the KLR..

Yet again the indestructible nature of KLR's are confirmed.  :lol8:  . There will likely be a few klr's still running when our sun explodes.

I still believe there was no tractor involved[emoji3061][emoji13]Only Pops, KLR and home made brew[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji48]

No Porra check Andy's pic there.. that tractor driver was so shocked I took him on, he had to have a ventilator..

We'llcheck out that homebrew at the KZN bash  ;D ;D

Nice one Andy, lucky klr rider or lucky tractor I suppose :lol8:

Eish, you guys rode within sight of my place!
That trip you are planning around Byrne valley and Hella Hella is a nice area to ride around in.
I am thinking off going for a ride around there again.
I normally just pick a gravel road and then explore tracks of it.
Nice ride, give me a shout if there is place on another ride and I would like to tag along.
