The gear action on the 990 has been feeling a bit off for a while so I suspected, being an '08 model, the slave was on its way out... sourced an Oberon and billet backing plate from good ol' Wessel at Locomoto a while back already but just did not get around to doing the job....
So come Saturday I decided to jump in and do some work.... had also found a nice Powerparts KTM Master brake cylinder cover so while at it I also bled and replaced front and rear brake fluids,,, always amazes me how dark that stuff can get sitting in the system for too long...
Then moved on to the Oberon, was quite straight forward and fast until I decided, on the spur of the moment,, while in there to open and clean oil jet... just as well as it was quite blocked up and a bit of a bugger to get out... decided to drill it out slightly bigger which seems to work well. Got it back in eventually and all buttoned up nicely.... fluid was filthy and bled it through twice to clean it out properly... also cleaned master out properly. Want to get a nice big syringe to do a reverse bleed next time, makes it much easier and faster to disperse air in the system :thumleft:
Must say I have read many time of the stock plastic backing plate warping etc... did replace mine with a billet unit but the stock still looked pretty good to me... Must say the Oberon looks damn nice, as it should for the price, and feels lighter and smoother... The stock Magura was still working (sort of) so will keep as a backup if ever needed as the swop over if fast and simple if ever needed...
