This thread got me thinking.......

What do you think is expected from a RTW bike traveler, maintenance wise, to be able to do / fix / service / maintain his bike on the road. Keep in mind that we are talking about someone with minimal technical knowledge or experience, not a mechanic!
I have thought of a quick few things, and I think we can maybe start a list if things "every biker" should be able to do on his own. Keep in mind that it needs to be done with tools that could be kept / carried on the bike, or tools sourced / used from little places / workshops next to the road. This list is aimed at someone who is travelling for an extended period of time by motorbike, and not at someone with a garage full of tools!
* Change both tires
* Service the bike (Oil Change / Fuel, Air, Oil Filers / Spark plug)
* Replace fork seals
* Sorting out a drowned bike
* Replace chain and sprockets
* Replace brake pads
* Replace wheel bearings
* Replace Throttle / Brake / Clutch cables
* Bleed the brakes
* Replace the fuel pump
* Replace the rear shock
* Fix a broken chain
* Know how to fit / replace all your levers (2 x brake, clutch and gear levers)
