what's the best knee brace / guard?

I have a friend with a broken knee that's almost healed but still can't handle too much sideways movement.

She's looking for a very good knee guard that will also give side support.

what is the best unit available in SA?
and would you fit it inside or outside the riding pants? (My thoughts are inside but then you need baggy pants?)
