Have read somewhere all over the world D/S bike sales are the best in decades, whether they are sort of soft roadies like the Truimph Tiger, whatever, BMW is all into D/S bikes, Yamaha got the new Tenere, Kawa keeps on evolving the KLR, and so it goes.
But what's KTM thinking? The 690 motor is in production and red hot waiting to be used in a D/S bike, but bloody nothing? Not a word, a rumour, nothing. The 950/990 is the best thing since sliced toast but can't go on indefinitely and needs a revamp in the near future, if you can say the 990 was the face lift of the 950.
I just can't figure in such a competitive growing market that they would hang on for to long to launch and develop new bikes more often.
Maybe they recon, racing plastic bikes are their major market and D/S bikes is just a necessary nuisance, who knows ??? It also might be because they have spend all their time developing road bikes. >
Anybody close to Butch that can beat some info out of him, for what's it worth? ;D
IMHO Honda and Suzuki are the biggest loosers in this market, great bikes ad motors but I think the majority of owners wants bikes that compare closer to KTMBMW O0 in this market.
