For good info:
I have been keen to get some of these footpegs and started looking for a set yesterday and had a couple of episodes. Hope this can save some okes some effort / money !!
Upon investigation I first found out the following (see latter part of post for what I found out later):
- These pegs are in great demand because they fit a number of adventure bikes (incl. KLR's and F650GS's)
- The price has gone up to R320 a pair
- Of all the dealers in the Western Cape, Northern Cape and Free State (I called them ALL), no-one had any stock (except one - see lower down) and some had quite a few on back-order - some for as long as 6 weeks!!!
- Head office in Vereeniging didn't have any in stock either
- The prices quoted varied from R140 - R450 per pair
- Some included the springs and pins, others didn't (not like the ones in the pic above where all came in one packet
- I finally located a pair in Mossel Bay. I was quoted as follows:
- Footpegs R140
- Springs R37
- Shipping to CT R67
- Total R244
Then I got feedback form the CT branch that (where I complained about the price increase):
- they actually did have stock
- there was a fault on the system - they are R160 per pair and not R160 per peg
- The springs are included and they're all in one pack
I've arranged to pick my pack up from the Sea Point branch today. I'll post again as soon as I have them in hand
NOW, here's the question: is there a Mossel Bay dog who would like to grab the set at A1 Bikes at above price (without shipping, of course)?? If so, please PM me and I'll ask Willem to release my set to you.
If not, I'll buy them and keep them in CT, either as spares or until I get a taker. I may also post this offer on the "Trade, Buy, Sell" thread.
