Had the 395 on the bike for 2 years, wired directly to the battery. Had some issues with battery draining when bike is not ridden regularly.
Disconnected the GPS and usb power point. No more problems with the battery. Both the gps and usb were permenantly drawing power from the battery. So I wire both through the ignition, so they can not drain the battery.
But now the gps has a power issue. The gps unit does not turn on when the ignition is powered on. The usb power point does.
When I test with a multimeter at the gps cradle, there is 12V + flowing.
What did I do wrong, or must the gps cradle be wired directly to the battery to function properly?
There are two contacts on the cradle. Logic says the one should be positive and the other negative. But I get a 12V reading from BOTH.
Why?
