I'm busy giving my XT 600 a sort of thorough check-up, after a couple trips this year. It's wintertime, so plenty chance/time to do this.
On my recent little trip, she ONLY had the following Issues that I'm busy sorting :
1) Rear brake is still fine, but squeals a bit......will just have it checked
2) Chain and sprockets replaced - the rear sprocket is starting to wear out, I'll sommer do the whole katoot, already ordered.
3) Hooter is soft, and headlight - only park light working, brake light not working - I actually got pulled off in Knysna.
4) (Much) smaller number plate, I lost another one again.
5) Small (maybe 5mm) tears on the seat's sides, from me getting on/off with boots - will also sort that, easy fix.
6) Rear tyre fitted wrong when I installed the HD tubes - will sort when fitting new sprockets.
7) New oil, plug, air filter, fuel filter (thanks chris)
8) Grease linkages (thanks sidetrack)
......apart from that really NO issues, she starts easy enough (VERY easy when hot, I almost never kick more than once), NO oil used, carb is 200% - she cruises happily at 110/120 all day long, really really a 110% sorted old bike.
But, while its winter and I have time, What are known weaknesses/issues that I can also have look at ??
