Hiya chaps, so in my excitement of installing Pro Taper / Hand guards / raisers this weekend I forgot that the right hand mirror fitting (the one with the brake fluid reservoir) thread was actually a left thread and stripped the thread. :'(
so I'm looking for a 8mm left handed tap so that i can re-thread it. I went to almost every single hardware store in PE and no one has it, started at midas and was pointed to each one. I understand they are pretty rare. Yamaha doesn't have one either... last place is bearingman here in pe that said via telephone at the last hardware store i tried they can order one for me. $$$$? phones been engaged all day...
what I discovered is that Yamaha (also stopped at Honda and was informed of this) are the only guys that do that. (left side right threaded and right side left threaded). tried a few older mirrors with grooves cut into them as a make shift tap no joy)
options
1. find a left sided tap and re-thread it. (its only the first couple threads that's gone so i cant get grip.)
2. failing option 1. find a left sided tap, drill out the old thread and use an insert.
3. get two right threaded after market mirrors and re thread them both that way. (my second least favorite option)
4. buy a whole new one from Yamaha. R1780!!!
so... any one got a tap i can borrow? ill pay for postage if need be. cant imagine its a popular tap just rare. any suggestions where i can get a tap from? price?
