I'm having problems with my xt600 dual carb setup. Problems started a while ago I think from rust in the tank. I've disassembled/cleaned this, drove it for a month and problems returned. I've now fitted a fuel filter to keep any dirt out.
It's certainly a simpler setup than dual cylinder carbs but there is still some calibration needed. The factory manual says the secondary carb butterfly air valve should start opening when the primary carb slider is 5-7mm open. Then there is the pilot idler fuel jet which is factory set.
It is possible (with some effort and burned knuckles) to dial both the butter fly opening screw and fuel pilot screw with the carbs on the bike.
Factory main and secondary carb jets are both #130, but supposedly they are set for sea level.
If anyone could perhaps share some insight in how to optimize this carb I'd be grateful (bottle of brandy/whiskey grateful)
Any referral to a Yamaha Carb Tuning specialist (I can only take this carb out so many times)
