HELP needed - getting GPS to recognise a map on SD card - SORTED

Thanks for the kind although totally untrue compliment - Since retiring from biking I have almost retired from GPSing but still use an ancient GPSMap 62s in my Forester to tour the back roads. I did get the Garmin topo-lite mapset a while ago and did manage to install it on a USB flash drive...

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

Thanks for all the input. This is now my preferred way of lap counting, and it's very effective.I even remember the debates at each bike !! But after Midmar I will leave the pool for about 5-6 months and go back to the Gym. Midmar swim was good. I don't push it any more after my little heart...

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

Did a trip up Sani on scooters. I was on my Kymco 250, but there was a guy on a Yam BWS100. Little thing went 'nyaaa, nyaaa, nyaaa' all the way to the top with no problems  ;D BWS100 is on my list

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

I 'field tested' the bike laps this morning on a Midmar 'Dry Run' (1600), and it works well. Hit a small wall about the XT500, got thru it by the KLR, started to feel tired about the GS1200, and then cruised to the Gold Wing and the last 100m. Nice pool Ian. I am sure the Aussies have plenty...

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

I chose the name for two reasons. The first vehicle I ever had was a Vaaljapie tractor. On the farm I grew up on there was an old vaaljapie discarded in a shed. I asked my dad if I could have it, and with some help from the farm manager we got it going and it rejoined the work team on the farm...

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

Thanks for the help. It's actually quite amazing how complete the list is. A dof of me to forget the TDM900 - I spent at least 1000km riding behind IanTheTooth's And the only bikes I have no clear image of in my mind are the 350 and the harleys- I must google them

    Counting pool laps by motorcycle

I swam 1500m in the pool this morning, at least I think it was 1500m. When there is a shapely lady in the lane next to me I often lose count of the laps. I normally count in 50m increments, each 50m being a double lap in the Active Virgins 25mm pool. This morning I was wondering if there is...

    Short trip up Sani

Mine is a 2009 Manual 2.5l . It does have a "low range".  I put it in quotes 'cos it is not a true low range, effectively giving a squashed set of ratios where normal first is about low range second, but low range first is quite useful to slow the vehicle down while rock clambering or for just a...

    Short trip up Sani

Nice little trippie Doc.  ;D Must do it again, but since I am retired from bikes, would need to take my Soob Forrester. D'you think it would have managed?

    Sani sunday 6th May

I'll be in the area tomorrow morning. Leaving Durban at 05:00.  I am taking a photographer up by softroader, and we are going to take pictures of the autumn colours at Lake Kenmo - a few Kms from the Sani turnoff on the Lower Loteni rd. . They say the colours are spectacular, and the window is...

    KZN BASH 2017 RR

Thank you, but I am fully aware of how much I still have to learn about photography. I enjoy taking photo folk out in my Forester along the back roads I discovered on the bike, and it is humbling to see what some of them can do with scenes I passed many times without noticing. And it's good to...
