I have seen those signs in quite a few workshops. Back onto the title of this thread is it not compulsory to advertise your labour costs as I have seen in many workshops or is it voluntary?

Yes, there are some decent cars about 5-6 that come to mind under 230k new and let's not get started on bicycles that cost that also. I bought a Baleno last year for R224k and it's not exactly small.
There are quite a few cars that can be bought cheaper than what a decent bike costs these days. Gone are the days when you bought a bike because you couldn't afford a car.
