Sheet Metal Suppiler - Fourways or Midrand?

If you don't come right in your area, I got sorted with stainless steel and aluminium sheeting cut to size at NK Cutting in Centurion (012-653 7335/7526) (recommended to me by Blazes).

1150 gs with gsa 1st gear

Yes, the problem is the intermediate shaft - see this thread about a guy who did the change. https://www.gsclubuk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31280

1150 gs with gsa 1st gear

According to the BMW R 1150 GS repair manual, the gears can be removed from the output shaft, you need a BMW universal puller tool though, and there are very specific instructions regarding the lengths of the various shafts once assembled. What is not described is removal of gears from the...

    Stainless steel sheet

Thank you again, Blazes. I got sorted at NK Cutting. I also picked up a piece of aluminium sheet.

    Stainless steel sheet

Thank you for the info, I will follow up. Also had a pm from a WD who have some sheeting available - I'll see who is easiest to get to. Thank you for the advice, Blazes. I'll speak to the guys and find out what is the best thickness for what I want to do.

    Stainless steel sheet

Can anyone in the Pretoria / Jo'burg area help me with a 30cm x 30cm piece of 1.0 to 1.5mm stainless steel sheet (or know where I can get a small piece of sheeting like that)? I want to make up an exhaust outlet deflector as the exhaust blows directly onto the pannier rack crossbar, heating...

1150 gs with gsa 1st gear

Watching this with interest. Always been thinking of putting a GS 6th gear into my GSA but have figured it's not worth the effort of major gearbox surgery.

Hepco & Becker crash bars for 1150 GSA - to buy or not to buy?

Thank you, Adventurer Had a look at them and the same problem as with the BMW bars (for the 1150 anyway) - the side protection section of the bar (from the front to be back) runs along the top of the cylinder head / valve cover resulting in the bottom of the valve cover still hitting the ground...

Hepco & Becker crash bars for 1150 GSA - to buy or not to buy?

I am considering fitting Hepco & Becker crash bars (I believe the PC term is "engine protectors") to my 1150 GSA. This after dropping the bike twice already (fortunately at 0 km/h) and finding that it rests on the cylinder head and and not on the OEM bars. The H&B bars appear to be the only bars...

    Lurker intro

Hi, everyone. Thank you for the warm welcome. Hi, Moggy, yes that is a good thread. If you want to get philosophical about it I suppose you can call it the "Circle of Life" or something (or how about the "Circle of Biking"?)

    Lurker intro

Hi to all the Wild Dogs out there. After lurking around for quite a while (having registered a while back), finally here I am. I got back into biking about 2 years ago after an absence of something like 18 years. I don't care if they call it a mid-life crisis - I'm having fun. I re-started...

You can also consider pulling some of the fuses (probably the one for the RID)
