"The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is set to introduce a new and exciting flat track series for production adventure bikes. This innovative racing series will feature near-stock adventure bikes battling it out on the track, offering a unique and thrilling competition for both riders and spectators. Launching later this summer at the prestigious Sturgis TT, the new class will run alongside existing classes, promising to provide the same level of fan engagement and excitement as other popular racing series.

AFT AdventureTrackers Class: A New Frontier in Racing

The AFT AdventureTrackers class will distinguish itself from other racing categories by focusing on near-stock adventure bikes with minimal modifications allowed. Unlike the highly modified racing machines in the King of the Baggers series, AdventureTrackers bikes will maintain stock forks with the option to alter fork internals. Rear shock absorbers can be changed, but must remain the same type as the stock road-going model. Additionally, alterations to the rear linkage are permitted to ensure the correct stance for flat track racing, while maintaining attachment points as per the original bike.

The category will be open to twins, triples, and four-cylinder machines with engine displacements of at least 1,000cc. This inclusive approach means that a variety of large-capacity adventure bikes, such as the Ducati Multistrada V4, Triumph Tiger 1200, and Kawasaki Versys 1000, can compete in the series. Engine modifications are limited to removing the catalytic converter and adding a slip-on can, ensuring a level playing field for all participants.

Additional requirements for bikes in the AdventureTrackers class include a minimum weight of 218kg, the use of a control tire, and a 19-inch front wheel. These specifications aim to standardize the competition and enhance the competitive spirit among riders, while showcasing the capabilities of production adventure bikes in a dynamic racing environment.

The Future of AdventureTrackers Racing

With the success of the King of the Baggers series paving the way, the introduction of the AdventureTrackers class marks a new chapter in flat track racing. As enthusiasts and riders eagerly anticipate the debut of this exciting series, the AMA’s commitment to innovation and diversity in racing is evident. The AdventureTrackers class not only provides a platform for near-stock adventure bikes to showcase their performance capabilities but also opens up new possibilities for motorsport enthusiasts.

As the inaugural season of the AdventureTrackers series approaches, all eyes will be on the track to witness the thrilling battles between production adventure bikes. The AMA’s decision to introduce this unique racing category demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to motorsport and a dedication to offering diverse and engaging racing experiences for fans around the world.
