I would like to gather some insights from you lot. Would starting a delivery bike rental fleet to rent out to delivery riders be a feasible business opportunity - this is for sure being done so not reinventing the wheel but looking for learnings.
Thinking something like 25 - 30 Honda in Y1 and scale from there. Rent them out on a weekly basis (seems the market norm) for a fixed price. We would service the bikes from a "depot", provide overnight storage and maybe a bit of a rider hub with lockers and toilets. Might look at selling basic gear to riders.
Bikes would be insured, get trackers installed, serviced and maintained by the company. Basic service and maintenance will be on the company but any damages will be charged to the riders. We'd attempt to do proper due diligence on the riders to minimise risk but not oblivious to the massive risks that will be inherit with the business model.
Location: mid tier city/large towns = Klerksdorp, Welkom, Rustenburg.
Basically is the juice worth the squeeze if the business is run properly or a quick way to buy lots of trouble?
Thanks!
