Read a very interesting bike test between a 490 Maico and a 525 KTM on a MX track. KTM could not drop the Maico into the 1st corner, mostly 1/2 wheel.  Very impressive.  Raved about the power and chassis balance... Rated the Maico as the best open class MX bike ever.

I had a Maico Master 490 2 stroke - either you were on the powerband or you were not and everybody went past you.  Output was irrelevant, it was whether you could tame the beast!  Everybody fell off all the time, that was the way the sport was... Nobody went slow, it was flat out all the way...

You have done the best that you can and given someone transport that needs wheels.  That is more than anyone can ask. As above, leave it at that.

A question: Why do some of the bikes end up with a raised fender after the manufacturer launched the bike with a low fender on the front wheel - e.g. the KTMs are launched with the low fender and then it is taken off and a raised fender is fitted as an aftermarket fitting?
