Strange (engine) sound at between 125 - 132km/h

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm feeling a little more comfortable now.  One does need to tune out one's ears a little!  A good test will be CTN and back in the nest 3 weeks, around 6k km's.

Strange (engine) sound at between 125 - 132km/h

Yeah, thought it may be tyres - just strange that it's exactly between 125 - 132KM/h.  Everything seems to be smooth enough though.  Quite difficult picking up exactly where it's coming from - I have a Thundacan pipe on, which adds to the difficulty!  Adding 6000km's in the next 3 weeks, so...

Strange (engine) sound at between 125 - 132km/h

Hi, I'm getting a strange sound on my S10, consistently between 125 - 132KM/h, in 6th.  It sounds a little like water in a washing machine  :) Kind of like wooowooowooo or throb (sorry, hard to describe in words!)  I'm running Anakee 2's and can't remember whether I had it on the original tyres...

Which DS helmet on a tight budget

Been riding with the Shark Evoline series 3 for a while now and really enjoying it.  It's a flip face, but flips all the way to the back, so doesn't impact aerodynamics.  Noise seems ok so far.  Also has the inner sun visor, although I don't use this much.  Like the fact that it has little...

JHB to CTN - December - Anyone going that way?

Hi, I've been planning a round-trip from JHB to CTN and have finalised my dates.  Anyone on the road at that time with a similar destination, you're welcome to join.  I'm travelling alone at this point.  My route / dates will be: Leaving JHB on 8 Dec. Douglas 8 Dec Augrabies National Park 9...

Ride Pretoria to George just before Christmas

Pity about the dates!  I'm leaving JHb on the 8th, route being stop-overs in Douglas, Augrabies and Strandfontein, arriving in CTN on the 11th.  Some dirt (Cederberg area), else mostly backroads, etc.  Riding along at this stage, so happy for anyone to join. Coming back to JHB, leaving George...

Cape Town trip (solo) - advice / suggestions

So here's what the route looks like so far.  Every time I zoom in further, I find new areas to head towards.  I'm trying to stick to 500 - 650km per day, so I still get to enjoy the scenery...

Cape Town trip (solo) - advice / suggestions

Thanks ThomThom, I've amended my route to go via Clanwilliam.  Wouldn't mind doing dirt in the Karoo, but have been a little hesitant about being out on unknown dirt on my own, potentially far from anywhere... Ideas on a good route through the Cedarburg?  Currently I'm looking at Clanwilliam...

Cape Town trip (solo) - advice / suggestions

Thanks for that - I will be coming through Ficksburg on my way home, but have already booked a night in the Golden Gate park, which seemed like a good idea at the time.  My first time in that area - would you recommend it?

Cape Town trip (solo) - advice / suggestions

So many places, so little time...  Thanks Johnnie!  :)  One often takes this awesome country for granted until you start planning a trip and realise there's just so much more to see.  I could spend 2 weeks on Karoo towns alone if I had the time!

Cape Town trip (solo) - advice / suggestions

Hi, My wife has let me out for 2 weeks, so I'm off to Cape Town on the 8th December, riding solo and looking for any suggestions / advice on places to stay and attractions along the way.  Staying clear of main routes, but pretty much a tar run.  Current overnight stops include: Day 1: ...

Sold - Mitas e-07 set of almost new tyres available - Sold

Hi, I have a set of Mitas e-07 tyres available.  They are almost new, with 1300 km's on, perfect condition.  Size:  Rear - 150/70/17, front - 110/80R19.  These are great 50/50 tyres on dirt, but for my purposes I've gone with 80/20 tyres, as I spend more time on tar and on long distance.  At...

Best All Round Tyre - Please comment

Thanks KTMjedi, I've been chatting with Craig from DualsportAfrica - they run these quite successfully on their fleet.  He actually suggested balancing, which I've done, and it certainly improved stability, but it's still noticeable at speed.  I am running the 110/80R19.  I've also tried...

Best All Round Tyre - Please comment

Yep, played with pressure on the front a little - running at 2.25 now for one up, which is what the manual recommends.  On tar, if I compare to my original Battle Wings, it could definitely be a lot more stable.  Nothing better for bringing on a cold sweat when those bars start moving at...

Best All Round Tyre - Please comment

So I've done around 1500 km's on my e-07's now and while they've quietened down somewhat, I'm still finding them to feel unstable on my S10 at speeds of 140plus, with some degree of front-end wavering.  This feels even worse if there's some wind, as felt yesterday afternoon coming back from...
