On our recent trip to Verneukpan and beyond ( Cheeta boot edition ) I picked up hassles with my stator coil. Basically what happened was that the bolts that hold the ring gear in place came loose inside the coil housing and chomped up the coil! Is this a common problem with DRZ 400's or not? Or...

No , not serious at all!! Got brand new coil on Thumper talk and will have it up and running by the weekend and ready to ride!!! :thumleft: I was very lucky, no damage what so ever!!! The meccie tunes me that the engine is in tip top shape ,so I am really stoked that everything has worked out...

That is exactly what happened to mine ,except that all 5 bolts broke clean off. You can imagine what my coil looks like!!! :dousing: It's totally stuffed , including the housing that the coil is wound around. Thanks for the tip. I will defiantly check out the link!
