Yes, near Philippolis, towards Luckoff, in low hill country a few hundred metres from the northern side of VanDerKloof Dam.

Another great campsite in that area is Bankfontein - has excellent self-catering kitchen facilities and a range of camping/accommodation options… But no waterfront. Short ride gets you to the water, though, for those dedicated swimmers …

Sandgat does look like stunning venue - and is fairly central in the sense that most riders would have to ride 500-1000ks to get there (except for the Vrystaaters !)....

Check out a Petzl Bug from Mountain Mail Order. Designed to wear as a climbing pack on big walls , and in my opinion has the right ergonomics and aerodynamics as a backpack for bike travel. And orange in colour!! Good price. Excellent value at that.
