I decided that my next bike will probably be a DR650/DRZ400/XR650 (might even consider KLR, Dakar, or G650X depending on what I find), but the prices people are asking (if you find any) are ridiculous from the last time I had a look in this category (10 years ago). I see that the topic of prices have come up often on the forum, but "supply and demand", so it is what it is I guess.
I assumed that these bikes were replaced with higher tech bikes over time, and therefore "rare" and collectable now, but I see that overseas the DR, DRZ and the XR still have 2023 models (colors), the KLR also has a new 2023 (I don't like it). Why are these not being sold in South Africa? Here it seems that it's either full plastic, the "do it all comfort" bike, or the large 1K+ adv bikes. This obviously inflates the 2nd hand market prices a lot. There's obviously a market for these, so I'm confused on why these are not being sold here.
