Wanted Wanting: Final drive & driveshaft for BMW 1200GS Adventure 2011

ACME, Justin, GMP, Morne Jonker are all essentially bike scrapyards, and he doesn't want one of those. He wants one from an accident damaged bike, but doesn't want it from a scrapyard. 🤔

Wanted Wanting: Final drive & driveshaft for BMW 1200GS Adventure 2011

So, correct me if I'm wrong ... You want a decent but cheap (2 words that don't belong in the same sentence) 2nd hand FD and shaft, not "as is" (so needs a guarantee) that your on hand "expert" is going to strip and check. Only then, if you are happy, are you prepared to pay for it?!! Calling...

    PETROCAM oils

It always amuses me when a guy will spend R300k on a bike, but then want to skimp off the extra R30/l on the oil for it. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

    PETROCAM oils

No idea, never heard of it. But if it's from Takealot it's probably made from the stuff I throw away. ;)

    2005 Dakar DIY oil change

The sump plug on the Dakar is a 24mm Aluminium plug. Only ever use a 6 point socket on it. Anything else will strip it. Do not overtighten it. Torque is 40Nm MAX!

that little adjusting wheel on the clutch lever,

Yes, the little knob is a push fit on the shaft. Takes quite a bit of force to get it off, but it does come off. You then screw the little adjuster in and all the way through.

    Seen Bike(s) on Facebook

Yes, that's a  SmilingCryingintheWind rig, so it will definitely need to be modified. Busy with one at the moment that is literally falling apart. Check the brilliant welding on them.

    2013 1200 GSA

I think by now everyone knows my view of a boosterplug, so I won't comment on it. Small things to check for are the balljoint boot on the front of the telelever arm above the front wheel. They are prone to tearing. Then check for play on the headlight and attached instrument cluster. The...

    Manual

Now there's a blast from the past. So many memories. TS125 was my first bike I got when I was 11. The entire bike was painted green with stoep paint and a paintbrush. I swapped 2 boxes of .22 ammo for a surfboard, which I in turn swapped for the bike. Spent many hours rewinding the source...

No, a rivnut needs a flat plate and through hole. You will mot be able to collapse a rivnut in a solid deep hole.

    Battery for R1100S

A 12Ah battery was fitted to the 2008 - 2013 models, and even some of the early LCs. It is a smaller battery than the 14Ah, so a spacer was fitted under the battery to lift it and make lit the same physical hight as the 14Ah.

Not sure whether that will work. You would need to get the weld all the way to the bottom of the hole for it to be effective. IMO, Timesert would be the way to go, taking away as little of the current material as possible to get the 'sert' in..

    Battery for R1100S

Don't think so. Compare the R1200s R1200GS = 14Ah Battery R1200RT - Same motor, same starter = 19Ah Battery The only people that are going to give you an answer are the guys with white coats, Coke bottle bottom glasses, many pens and pocket protectors at BMW R&D.
