    Skid plate rubbers

Use a hex socket to remove it. It's either a 21 or 22mm. I replace lots of them.

Should I weld the exhaust header to the mid-pipe ?

My 2c worth ... If I were you I would remove both sections and take then in to the likes of Powerflow. They have the proper tools to expand the smaller pipe to fit snugly into the larger one. Then cut a slot in the larger one to give some flex/wiggle room, and clamp it with a decent clamp.

    2015 F800 GSA exhaust

Your CAT is there to remove harmful hydrocarbons from the gasses emitted from the exhaust into the atmosphere. It uses heat to do this, so it stands to reason that your exhaust (and the gasses it emits) will be hotter. Unfortunately a number of thigs can contaminate, and ultimately clog, the...

A day in the workshop ...

I had a call early one morning from a guy riding his F650GS from Cape Town to Durban. On the long uphill approaching Grahamstown his gearbox broke. Now the gearboxes on those bike do not break, so I was a little suspicious. A few questions later we determined that he needed a trailer, so off...

    F650GS clutch mutch @#%#?

Boxers are easy. Can do them in a day easily, with time to take coffee breaks. Try doing a K1200LT clutch. Minimum 3 days!

Please give some insight on these 2 R1200 GS Adventure models

2006 is one of the original ('04-'06)1200 motors. (identified by silver cylinders) Yes, it has the servo brakes, but IMO there is nothing wrong with them, provided the brake fluid is flushes and replaced as per the service schedule. This is often neglected due to the amount of labour involved...

    F650GS clutch mutch @#%#?

Yup, clutch and,as Rob says, DIY it. You will most likely only need the friction plates. Also, check the freeplay on the clutch lever. You should have about 2mm.

And here is the actual reason the 1150 came in. Caught this one just in time before it destroyed the casing as well.

So the tap works really well. Very pleased with it. It cleaned up and repaired the majority of the damage. There are about 2 turns of thread right in the center of the hole that got ripped out completely, but it is not enough to warrant welding up and re-cutting the entire thread. I will...

    Metalworking, machining and welding DIY

I had a little oops with an R1150GS gearbox I was removing from the bike. The RHS swingarm pivot went thread bound and damaged the thread. So this little screw-up required that I make a new tool. Sigh! ;) Started off with a nice chunk of EN36, turned down to the correct diameter Added...

I love turning EN36. Using the correct tool, speed and feed can give you an almost chrome looking finish.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Yes, I could have made a new insert from scratch, but I already had one inside the old buggered pivot. I just had to get it out. ;)
