    For Sale 2007 GS1200 Sold

2007 (@weskusklong) ABS pump is very different to the 2006 (@Skyscout) 2007 pumps I refurbish with a 5 (yes, five) year warranty. 2006 pump is a little bit of a bitch, as parts are scarce as hen's teeth. Have someone run diagnostics on the ABS to see what the issue is. Sometimes it's as...

A day in the workshop ...

TPMS Repair: First start by removing the covering layer of epoxy from the battery. Slide a small, sharp knife under the tab to lift it away from the battery. The, using a small screwdriver, break the tab free from the battery ... and lift it out of the way, like so. Now carefully lift...

    TPMS SENSORS

FWIW, the batteries are not spot welded to the circuit board. They are soldered onto/into the board. The trick is to break the tab off the top of the battery, carefully lift that side of the battery just enough to get a very thin blade screwdriver into the gap, and then breaking the lower tab...

A day in the workshop ...

Yes, I normally just lean the bike over a little, as though it has a sidestand on the RHS. That is more than enough to get the cover off without losing the oil.

Shaun Dickens - Bike Sellers Beware

The positive side is that if no one can find him they also cannot hand their bikes over to him "to sell".

So the next "SmilingInTheWind" sidecar has arrived at my door for a frame modification. The client is not smiling at all, although the welds on the frame are. One would think that someone that builds something like a sidecar, where people's lives and their safety are paramount, would at least...

When things go wrong and other interesting tales from the trade

Check whether the tyre is properly seated on the bead. There should be a reference line all the way around the tyre. Here's what I am referring to: The red arrow is the rim edge. Green arrow indicates the reference line on the tyre. Make sure the distance between the two (orange arrow) is...

    Looking for 650L engine

This is the one in storage. Looks to be pretty neat. Have asked whether he is prepared to part with the engine, and awaiting his response. I know he did say he was keeping it for spares as he has another one he rides often. Will wait to hear from him.

    Looking for 650L engine

I have a client with a pranged 650L lying in a storage facility. Will check whether he is prepared to sell the entire bike.

Help; is there a cheaper generic clutch switch

Firstly, depress the little nub and spray some contact cleaner into the switch. Make sure you can hear it clicking. Now reinstall it and adjust it so that you can hear the click about halfway through the clutch lever travel. You cannot just fit the switch and expect it to work. It needs...

Spherical bearing on R1200gs LC front shock - options??

So, what is the difference between the original bearing and the closest match at BMG? ID and width are easily sorted with an insert or spacer. You could even make the insert accommodate the bolt shank/thread variance. If it's OD, then get the next size up. It would be a difference of .5mm...
