    Scale model motorcycles.

I've started my son on the hobby as well, he's 11. Have built 2 Airfix models so far, a plane and car. I do the painting (hand, brush) and he does assembly and decals  He loves it! It's such a nice thing for dad and son to do together. Got him a new plane for corona lockdown. I want...

Ja!  :P If it was half-price I would have taken it, but at that price I can get some pannier racks or BoosterPlug for the 800  ;D

front wheel swerves with new MT60 tyres

Agree, I had this once, and it was the tyre not seated properly. Get it refitted and balanced. Also make sure tyre pressure is correct after re-fitting.

    Prospective F800GS buyer questions

Ben, I had progressive springs in my 650 Dakar and it made a world of difference. I have already bottomed out my 800 three times, and I'm not very heavy. I enquired about progressives - the quote I got was R4000! So I'm putting it on my list for one day  ::)

    Prospective F800GS buyer questions

The other thing with the 800GS (the older models, anyway) is the throttle response. It's very on/off at low opening, causing jerking if you're not used to it. You have to get used to it, or fit a Booster Plug (search forum).

    Prospective F800GS buyer questions

Mine has this kind of sound on startup (2009 model, 70k). It quiets down after a second. Does this mean it's still OK? Or about to go? They're floating discs, this is to decouple disc expansion from the hub connection, avoids warping. Unfortunately, this does cause some rattle - it's normal...

    Prospective F800GS buyer questions

Here's a general 2nd-hand bike checklist I've compiled in the past: Static ● Full service record? ● Bike with higher mileage: valve clearance done at xxxxx km? ● Tyres still have lots of tread? ● Rims: o Check for smileys o Hit spokes with spanner: should “sing”, otherwise not tight ● Chain &...

    2018 triump 1200 speed wobble

I had it once and it was because the front tyre wasn't properly seated when they replaced it. Had it re-fitted and problem solved. But it could be other issue as well.
