    Broken odometer and speedometer

Most likely your problem lies with the wheel hub and a sheared speedo drive flange. The figure of R4k makes kind of sense if the speedo gear is thrashed too.

    Put Foot Rally 2018

Engine Oil - What is the Difference

You hear that a lot and it's still bullshit. Just like the story that you can not top up an engine which runs on synthetic with a mineral based oil. Or vice versa. It's just that once topped up with mineral oil your synthetic oil will obviously not be as good as it was - but still better than...

    Sidecar options and experience

A side car is a very nice passenger and luggage transporter. It is NOT easy to drive a side car rig. It's much more physical than riding a bike or driving a car unless you have a very well built (hideously expensive) rig and go really slow. A big GS with a side car is an absolute dog. You are...

    Wanted: DR650 fuel tap

Repair the Suzuki tap.I had a few of those bikes, occasional problems, fixed them all. I would not want a manual tap instead of an automatic vacuum operated tap.

    Cab Needle bend

The D - shaped washer fixes the main jet needle in one position. You have to be VERY careful when you fit the needle to make sure it slots into the corresponding shape in the slide else the needle will sit skew and about 2mm too high. Turn the needle until you feel it dropping into place, then...

Parts galore!!! The online KLR650 used parts bazaar

The new model in good condition should fetch R2,500 easily. They don't give a lot of problems and can be rebuilt if they should start to leak. The old shock I'd be careful with. At 60,000km it could be anything from thrashed beyond repair to fine. Best to disassemble, check for cylinder wear...

    long range tanks

The seat has to be modified to fit the KL650A tank. (Take cover and foam off, cut base late, weld, reupholster and you will need A model radiator cowls which brings it close to the price of an A model IMS which does not need radioator cowls and offers good protection to the radiator but also...

KLR 650 Neck Bearing Replacement question?

Unless you have a very delicate and very well made bearing puller which can reach into the tiny groove behind the outer races of the steering head bearings you don't really have another option besides the welding machine. The outer races come out easily if you weld a piece of flat bar into them...

Return of the small DS bikes

I don't understand all this "a small engine does not last if you ride it hard" bull. Each and every 125 gets hammered all day and lasts. Even the Chinese ones (well to some degree) I bought a 1980 Honda CB259RS second hand wirth 16,000km on the clock in 1996 and rode it 36,000km in three years...

    DR650 Fuel Tank

Does NOT fit. There was a hack to make it fit (modification of tank mount, bolt on, some effort) and you had to modify the seat and seat pan of the SE too. Not worth the effort since Acerbis started making the tanks for the SE.

    KLR 650 Disc

The problem was the required (best suited) steel was not available in SA in the required shape and reasonable quantities. We had to make the discs from second best. Got back some 20% because they warped within a few weeks. The others were fine, No profit at the end of  the day. Congratulations...
