Yes, try and source the OEM panels, any fibre stuff will bomb the ling-term value of the bike. Then again, perhaps fit glassfibre panels to ride with, and store the originals.

Very sad to see this beauty damaged like this. Be patient, something will come up.

Are the spokes broken/missing? How authentic do you want the resto to be? I have seen guys powdercoat the entire wheel in silver, rim, hub and spokes all still assembled, and it's not a bad result.
