I got the Leatt (I think 5.1) ballistic jacket and will recommend it to anyone.  That flaps that protect the ribs from side-impact, saved me from serious injury in the past.  Only crappy thing, is that it is difficult to get out of.

Ek hou van die E07 op, maar my laaste stel het bitter min kms gegee (iets soos 9000km) waar die vorige stel 17000km opgehad het.  Het nou Metzer op voor, maar sy grip op teerpad is nie so nice soos die E07 nie, en Karoo3 agter.  Die Karoo3 vibrate aansienlik meer, maar sy teerpad grip is on par...

Ride at your own speed and enjoy the ride. Wrt sand, unfortunately speeding up, makes the front wheel float over the sand instead of plowing through it.  Also, don't fight the handlebar - let it do its own thing.

Fitting extras to your bike?  Start with handle bar protectors.  You are stuffed without a clutch lever. Don't assume other bikes/vehicles will keep to their side of the road on gravel.

I jumped directly from the 650 GS to the 1200, and have not looked back.  I did take the 800 for a spin, but gladly gave it back and got back on my bike. Many safe miles!
