So I am now in Malawi where bikes are stupidly expensive. I found a 2019 Chinese 200c Shineray (think it is XY200GY-6E) with 13km on the clock (barn find). No idea how often the engine ran. Any suggestions on what what too look out for and what to service and replace before starting to ride it?

Since I did Country Trax training I have been practicing two finger braking. NEVER use 4 fingers. Think 2SD has a point about the suspect spot on the road. Was not much of a grab... just strong braking.

How many offs? I cannot get my mind to imagine deliberately pulling the front brake at 80km/h to lock it. I am crapping my pants sitting here just thinking of it!

Agree! Maybe a bit to complacent. This has me more aware and more careful.

SWAMBO already told me to get a "safer" bike and all I could think of was ABS... So now looking at options for that, but still need to improve my braking skills until the ABS enabled bike happens. BTW: Looking at secondhand DL650 or 650GS, whichever falls in my budget.
