Bike standing foe 3 year. What to do.

So I am now in Malawi where bikes are stupidly expensive. I found a 2019 Chinese 200c Shineray (think it is XY200GY-6E) with 13km on the clock (barn find). No idea how often the engine ran. Any suggestions on what what too look out for and what to service and replace before starting to ride it?

    Needed: KLE500 (2006) Windscreen Bracket

So this morning as I pull away I notice the screen is sitting at a slight angle. Have a closer look and see that the bracket has sheared off on the right hand side. Will try to get it welded, but will probably not last long, so now looking for replacement, new or secondhand. Anyone with a...

So I locked the front wheel on a wet road... lost all faith in my bike... or me

Commuting to work this morning on the N1 into town (Cape Town), keeping a decent speed because of the wet road, Merc 2 cars ahead of me decides to grab the gap in the other lane. Half way out her lane, she sees me and ducks back... As I mentioned, not lane splitting very fast, so can you...

Lowering a Djebel? Or which other low bike?

So a friend (female) wants to get into adventure riding. She is however extremely vertically challenged, i.e. kortgat. Think she is about 1.52m. Spoke to Nismark about the Djebel he is selling, but before taking her around to look at it, I would like to know if the Djebel can be lowered...

New Sirac causes front to bounce! #Sorted: Sirac was a dud#

So I put a Sirac on the front... what was I thinking! But what is done is done. The problem with the Sirac is that the KLE's front bounces at speed of 40 to 70 km/h. At speeds below 40km/h it is there, but not as pronounced. From 70 to 120 it is gone. And then at 130 upwards the front starts...

So I am not at the Bash. SWAMBO is on her way to Bloem to visit family. And I am left with all the time in the world over this coming weekend and nowhere to go! Problem is, I am a noob and crap scared of the quarry and Atlantis (never done sand nor proper gravel for that matter.) Anyone doing...

KLE 500 Brake pedal needed (also aftermarket pegs)

Okay. So I put the bike down in some mud. Don't ask me how, but ended up with a bent brake pedal. Back brake now works great when standing as it is bent upward. Braking when seated is however a little more difficult. Can ride like is, but would like to replace. Kawasaki South is telling me...

Should vehicle (read "bike") insurance be mandatory?

UK colleague was shocked to find out that one can own and drive a vehicle on South African roads without insurance. This is likely why: (From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_insurance) United Kingdom: Today, UK law is defined by the Road Traffic Act 1988, which was last...

Chosing that pillion friendly bike - Options: advice please!

Okay. So I am taking advise. To keep SWAMBO happy, I need to get that pillion friendly bike. So my options in the "budget" segment right now seems to be: Transalp XL700V, 2008, 12000km, R54000 DL1000, 2004, 35000km, R47500 Varadero, 2006, 34300km, R55000 My head is leaning towards the XL...

Most comfortable BUDGET bike for pillions or how 2 make a bike comfortable

So SWAMBO eventually had a break in her studies and we were able break away to Franschhoek for a day. And right there the trouble starts. The KLE500 is not very comfortable for the rider, but according to SWAMBO, it should never have been licensed to carry two people! Although it has enough...

Wanted: Crash Bar for '06 KLE500 in Cape Town [SORTED]

Want to start doing some gravel / offroad riding now that I have a bit of experience on the KLE. Reading the Ride Reports and other threads, an off is however almost a certainty. So, to spare myself the misery of a broken bike, I want to add a crashbar. So the question is: Who in Cape Town can...

    Loss for this board

Glen.Ink's passing is such a loss for this discussion board. Seldom have I seen someone with such a passion for a KLE500. Your knowledge, optimism, go anywhere and do anything with my KLE500 attitude will be sorely missed here. Your legacy lives on here, and in the hearts of those you touched...

Pillions, advice please: My pillion keeps headbutting me!

Bit of background: The whole biking idea was SWAMBO's, so that we can do weekend trips and get out a bit. Four months after getting the KLE 500, I got my license Friday past and SWAMBO "demanded" that we go for a ride on Sunday. Was not much of a ride as it started raining, BUT we immediately...
