BMW F650GS / Dakar
A mate of mine wants to get ride of his AT, and get a 2001 model 1150GS for $8500.

Is this a good buy? here are the specs.


Year/Make/Model: 2001 BMW R1150GS
Color: Yellow
Tires: 2 complete sets: one for off road and one for on.  New Twinduro TKC80 mud tires flown in from Cape Town motorcycle shop, both front and rear tires replaced (mud).  Front road tire was bought new for trip from Windhoek to LSK, rear tire has 40% tread left or about 4000 km depending on how you ride.
Capacity: 1130 cc
Engine data: Boxer twin, air and oil cooled
Drive: Shaft drive
Fuel system: Fuel Injection single spark plug per cylinder
Gears: 6 speed
Ignition: Push button Bosch electronic
Brakes: Brembo disc (new pads were installed at BMW dealership in Windhoek)
ABS: Yes, selectable for going off road
Wheels: Spoke (better for off road and potholes as opposed to cast aluminum)
Gas tank: 22 liters
Km reading: 48,625 as of 20 OCTOBER 2010

I have all original papers, receipts of everything purchased and added on to the bike.  Other items included are BMW brand luggage system, tank bag, BMW in-depth maintenance manual, additional soft luggage bag, tie down straps for gear, motorcycle tie down straps, two helmets (one from United States other from Namibia)  and all tools necessary to do basic maintenance yourself including tire change kit with compressed air cylinders that fit underneath the passenger seat.
