I want to know if it is common for the 1200GS or GSA to have clutch problems or is it just the way the previous owner rode it?
Kwaga’s 1200GS clutch dropped him on road in Bloem last year. When I rode my first gravel last week I had to stop at an uphill. Before this stop we did a bit of playing around so there could have been some heat in the clutch. Pulling away I smelled my clutch and thought that it was strange as I was not that hard on the clutch. The same happened the next day when I was having fun; With a couple of hard accelerations I also smelled the clutch. Phoned the agents and they asked about the clutch lever, if it was not partly engaging the clutch. I couldn’t see any engagement from the lever if not pulled, so that was eliminated.
Is my clutch giving notice, because I should think that, even if it did get some heat into it, it’s not suppose to start slipping and burning. I don’t know how the previous owner rode the bike, and if he was riding on the clutch all the time, but surely after only 7000kms it’s suppose to be new.
Is there anybody that can give some feedback because my GSA is going in for a service on Friday and I dearly want this sorted out as the bike is still under Factory warranty?
