1997 BMW Funduro 650 - is this a good deal?

A colleague of mine at work asked me for some input with regards acquiring the following scooter:

1997 BMW Funduro 650.  13 000km on the clock.  Good overall condition with Kappa topbox.  Asking price R32 000.

Now, I would like to convert the man (presently he rides a Yamaha XJ 900F) to the gravel side of motorcycling ... any advice appreciated
