Thought this is worth a share . Currently I’m building a street legal CR500AF Motard which I’m currently gathering some super cool parts for, yes I will post the build in time.
Anyway I bought this SXV as a non runner so that I could use the forks and radial brakes. The owner advised that it was pumping oil into the air box ( common problem and easy fix, normally a oil seal) as well as the starter and sprag clutch.
The bike arrived and I started off by washing it. I was amazed to find the bike unmolested and In an immaculate condition ( shimmer still on plastics and headlight) . I realized that this was a bike worth keeping and fixing.
After stripping the bike i found the problem. Its also apparently a common issue with the earlier models which relates to the flywheel bolts coming lose and eating into the stator.
I ordered a new sprag, stator , flywheel so long. I stripped the motor down to a certain degree. Going to drop the motor to remove the tappet covers so that I can wash out top to bottom with paraffin.
Oh yes the bike only has 4000km on it
