Hi Everyone.
Some background : I used to ride a KLR650 (old shape) until I sold it about two years ago. However it seems that it is not that easy to get biking out of my system.
I am now in the market for a used BMW 1150 Gs. My reasoning behind this is:
The 1200s is VERY nice but beyond my budget.
I like the 800 but it is too small (physically.)
I am 6"2 and 110Kg. I am looking for something with enough space and comfort for 2-up rides in the Lowveld and the 1150 fits the bill size-wise.
Being a very slow and careful rider, I am not at all worried about power and performance: My KLR650 with its 28Kw was more than enough for me.
It seems there are a lot of 1150's around in the R50K price range.
When I stand next to the bike, what should I look for? Or look out for? Are there common problem indicators that I should look or listen for?
I have never ridden one of these before, so I really am a total NOOB as far as the big BMW's are concerned.
Somebody also suggested looking at a Suzuki Vstrom 1000... It's a nice bike but my dream has always been a BMW Gs....
