So my 990 has fallen victim to the usual story of high idling because of TPS and/or idle stepper motor failure. RAD wants to replace the entire thottle body assembly (Part 61041001000) at a cost of R13866 plus R2600 for labour. Total with VAT comes to just under R19k. My warranty policy is willing to pay out R11k so I'm in for a bill of R8k (plus a R5k service )
I know there's the option of fitting a Triumph stepper motor but then I void my warranty and that's not really something I want to do on this bike. I could try replacing just the TPS, but I believe that's nearly R6k with labour and might not fix the problem anyway. I'd rather just go whole hog for R2k more.
I figured I could sell the throttle body second hand to help defray costs? It's from a 2008 990 Adventure with 42000km on the clock and may or may not have a faulty TPS and/or idle stepper motor.
What could i get for it?
