Always liked the look of the 3AJ and when one passed here September last year for sale i jumped and bought this. Bike ran but needs a good few hours and $ to take it to 4th pic which is what i sort of wish to get to. Big dollar $ items needing attention would be a new starter clutch, new rims as current ones are vrot, fuel tanked is rubbed through by fairing and a few hours. Most items are discontinued by Yamaha or just to ridiculous so we will spend time getting there. The starter clutch and the rims was first on the menu. As much as it could have worked for another year or two the noise of the starter clutch just drove me up the wall and after Spannerman (resident XT engineer) had a a look and confirmed it was indeed the guilty party many follow ups and discussion s later found new ones being made in Malaysia- wrong side of 3grand and delivered a week later. Spanner man did the fitting and starting was sorted. A quick ride roughish ride but just some carb settings was enough for me to indicate she was good and healthy-time for a strip down
