After reading this, I have much more faith in the gearbox:

I have an 05 525 at 268 hours it needed a new piston and intake valves were getting pretty thin.
I put a 570 kit in it along with a lumpy Hotcam, TrailTech lightened flywheel and stainless steel intakes. It's a bit of a ripper now. My intakes have not moved yet with the stainless valves but I don't have enough miles on them yet due to a broken leg to second his experience but I'm hopeful.
Regarding the need for a cush hub. In addition to its dirt duties the bike gets super motarded on multi day rides and races (and crashes) at the local go-kart tracks...
I holed the cases so took apart the motor. I was curious to see if there was any galling or wear of the gear faces due to no cush hub and the big motor, combined with sticky tires, making life hard for the gear faces. This picture is not a good one as the flash created some blemish looking spots on the right most gear where there were none.
This tranny has been abused with a 170 section rear tire, 5.5" rear rim and and a built motor so its had some abuse. Nothing to worry about and no need for a cush hub if you're trail riding with tarmac sections thrown in. Super motarding is the worse thing you can do to a gearbox as you slam down multiple gear changes going into corners and the power of the 570 puts some stress on the gear faces coming out of the corners. Yet with this abuse my tranny looks pretty spot on. If I was a rich man I'd opt for a cush hub on the motard rear but for dual sport use or commuting duties I reckon you're wasting your money. Just my opinion.
Best of luck and as others have found this is a pretty rock solid motor.
