Hi Guys.
My GS (2005 model with just under 50 000km) started overheating on the weekend. The temperature light came on and I stopped immediately. Some coolant had sprayed from the nipple but couldn't see any other leaks. Started it since and it still sounds ok so hopefully no damage done.
My temperature warning light now comes on after about 5 minutes of idling from cold. There are no visible leaks and fluid levels stay constant. The radiator is clean and the fan comes on after about 2 minutes of idling.
After the temperature light comes on, the radiator is still cold as is the water inside it. Am I wrong to assume that the problem is therefore related to the water pump? I've read on this site and others about the water pump gears failing. How do I check whether the water pump itself is still working and if it is, does this point to the gears or are there any other troubleshooting pointers you guys can give me?
